THE COLLECTIONS

POP
ICONS

CULTURAL ICONS IN LAYERS

A series of stencil paintings celebrating influential figures from film, music, sports, and popular culture. Built through a custom process of vector illustration, machine-cut stencils, and layered acrylic paint, each piece transforms familiar faces into bold graphic compositions.

VIEW SERIES

SAIBŌGU KUNOICHI

BEAUTY IN THE WASTELAND

A dimensional stencil painting that blends Japanese-inspired imagery, cybernetic themes, and urban aesthetics. Combining illustration, machine-cut stencils, acrylic paint, and custom fabrication, the piece transforms a discarded object into a layered visual narrative.

VIEW PROJECT

SAIBŌGU EASTBOUND

INSPIRED BY THE YARDS

A dimensional stencil painting inspired by rail culture, graffiti, and Japanese-influenced design. Built through illustration, stencil production, acrylic painting, and fabrication, the piece combines movement, storytelling, and sculptural construction into a single work.

VIEW PROJECT

FROM SCREEN
TO SURFACE

Every piece begins long before paint touches the surface.

While many stencil artists start with posterized photographs or automated image processing, my work begins with research, reference gathering, and illustration.

For many of my Pop Icons pieces, I study films, interviews, and archival footage frame by frame, searching for the exact expression, composition, or moment that best captures the subject. Once the reference is selected, the image is rebuilt through drawing, vector illustration, stencil production, and paint.

The result isn’t a modified photograph. It’s a completely reconstructed artwork designed specifically for the stencil medium.

01. FIND THE FRAME

Films and archival footage are studied frame by frame. The goal is to find the perfect expression, angle, or moment.

02. BLUE SKETCH

The selected image is redrawn as a structural sketch. Composition, proportions, and major shapes are established.

03. VECTOR RENDERING

The sketch is rebuilt as vector artwork. Colors, shapes, and stencil layers are refined for production.

04. STENCIL PRODUCTION

Stencil layers are cut from Oracal 813 stencil film. Clean edges and precise detail are maintained throughout the process.

05. PAINT & ASSEMBLY

Each stencil layer is applied using acrylic paint. Dimensional works are assembled using layered construction techniques.

06. FINISHED ARTWORK

The completed piece is finalized and prepared for display. Every layer comes together in the finished work.
